Men’s and Women’s Golf performed well in their first tournament of the season at the Lewis and Clark Invitational

On Monday and Tuesday, the 22nd and 23rd of September, the Pacific men’s and women’s golf teams traveled to Tualatin Country Club to participate in the Orange and Black Invitational, an annual tournament hosted by Lewis and Clark College.
Junior Bead Boonta led the women’s team with a +15 over the two days of action, placing her fourth among the 26 golfers in the competition. Junior Makena Tsuye and Junior Kayla Speer also had good rounds, finishing at 10th and 12th place respectively. The Boxers showed improvement from the first day to the second, shooting 15 shots better on Tuesday than they did on Monday. The team shot +50 on day one and +35 on day two, finishing with +85 between the two days, which was good enough to take second out of four teams in the tournament, only falling to UC Santa Cruz.
For the men’s team, Junior Ben Korach shot best among the Boxers with a +14 over in total, netting him 21st out of the 45 participants. His 77 on round one was good enough for ninth best all around after day one. Junior Ryan Murray and Freshman Jonathan Nolasco weren’t far behind, with Murray shooting +15 and Nolasco shooting +16 over the course of the two rounds. Unlike the women, the men stayed consistent over the course of the tournament, shooting +30 in total on day one, and +31 in total on day two. Add that up, and the Boxers finished with a total of 61 over par, good enough for fifth place out of the eight participating teams. Whitman ended up taking the crown in the end, followed by Lewis & Clark, with George Fox rounding out the top three.
