While this season has been rather disappointing for the Boxers, the seniors have cherished every minute of it in their final season.
Pacific Volleyball will be honoring their seniors in their last weekend home game, celebrating the success of Justyce Schilz, Lacy Churchfield, Diana Gardner, Jenna Hickman, Makayla Tuiolemotu, Logan Smith, Anneke Hanson, and future Boxer Hall-of-Famer, Aly Cargill.
While this season has not gone the way the Boxers have wanted, there have been many milestones achieved this season from the seniors, including Aly Cargill reaching 500 career digs, an achievement that will surely put her among the greatest to ever play at Pacific.
“She’s a very uplifting teammate and just like, every little dig she gets, she gets it up, and that’s what’s valuable to the team.” Said fellow teammate Junior Emma Velchek.
Cargill leads the team with 178 digs, while Velchek leads the team in kills with 139, and service aces with 26. Senior Justyce Schilz also leads the team in blocks with 33.0, highlighting how much of a difference maker the seniors have been this season.
While it looks bleak and unlikely, Pacific is sticking to their goal of trying to grab a spot into the conference tournament, but also focusing on enjoying every game and having fun.
“We’re hoping to try and go for one of the spots to go to the Northwest Conference Tournament,” said senior captain Anneke Hanson. “So to do that, we’re really focusing on playing with each other more and trusting each other, and just having fun on the court because that’s when we play our best.”
The Boxers play Pacific Lutheran University for their senior night, which is on Sunday, November 1st. It is a very monumental day for them, as they encourage everyone to show up and support. “Make it Happen,” as their senior motto goes.
