Senior Celebration

The final whistle has blown for the Pacific women’s soccer seniors, marking the end of four years filled with hard-fought battles, unforgettable moments, and lasting friendships. 

November 1 will mark the day of celebration for the eleven seniors on the women’s soccer team as they play their conference match against the Pacific Lutheran Lutes. The day will recognize seniors Kylie Pascual, Cyd Sugiyama, Mirella Garcia, Rhyah Jackson, Claryssa Barone, Rylee Larson, Gwendolyn Saing, Chanyn Santos, Rylie Goo and Makalia Takahashi.The graduating class of 2026 is the largest group on the team with eleven players, and their loss will be impactful. 

Captain Mirella Garcia has definitely made her mark over the past four years she has competed as a Boxer. She is a Forest Grove native who averaged approximately 1,100 minutes per season at Pacific.Working alongside her is Claryssa Barone, with her high spirit, energy and grit attitude on the field. Also scoring the team’s goals is Rhyah Jackson. Jackson uses her strength to hold off defenders and has a killer shot to help lead the team in goals. Right behind her positionally on the field would be Gwendolyn Saing, a player who is technical and diverse on the field who also puts the ball in the back of the net. 

Holding down the team defensively is defensive midfielder Cyd Sygiyama with her dynamic skillset. In the back line is Makalia Takahashi, a strong defender and positive teammate. Rylie Goo is a pacey outside back with incredible ball skills and on the opposite side of the field would be other outside back Rylee Larson who has incredible speed and confidence on the ball to help the team progress forward. Finally in goal is Kylie Pascual, a keeper who is not shy of making big time saves and making her presence known in the defensive line. 

Meet the Seniors

Kylie Pascual, Goalkeeper
A senior from Pearl City, Hawaii, Kylie has been a steadfast presence in goal for the Boxers. Over her collegiate career, she has accumulated significant playing time, showcasing her reliability and leadership in the defensive third. “The most positive presence I’ve ever met, I have never seen her without a smile!” 

Cyd Sugiyama, Midfielder
Also hailing from Pearl City, Hawaii, Cyd has been a dynamic force in the midfield. Known for her vision and passing accuracy, she has been instrumental in transitioning the team from defense to attack. “Cleanest first touch, the tallest shortest person you’ll ever know.”

Mirella Garcia, Forward
A Forest Grove native, Mirella has been a consistent offensive threat for the Boxers. Her ability to find the back of the net and create opportunities for her teammates has made her a key player throughout her career. “Has an extremely high soccer IQ and always leads by example.” 

Rhyah Jackson, Forward
From Bullhead City, Arizona, Rhyah has brought speed and agility to the forward line. Her work ethic and determination have been evident in every match, making her a valuable asset to the team.

“I’ve never not laughed around Rhyah. She sings the best National Anthem and the ball is a magnet to her foot.” 

Claryssa Barone, Forward

Claryssa has been a versatile forward, contributing both defensively and offensively and a huge asset to the team’s leadership and bond. Her tactical awareness and ability to provide energy during each game have been crucial for the Boxers.

“Just the sweetest and most supportive teammate anyone could ever have. Always found a way to let us know she was there for us. And cutie patootie Willow!”

Rylee Larson, Defender

Rylee has been a reliable defender for the Boxers, known for her strong tackles and aerial duels. Her leadership at the back has provided stability to the team’s defensive unit.

“IMPROV MASTER! Shows out no matter the situation. Always ready for her moment, speed demon.”

Gwendolyn Saing, Forward
Gwendolyn has been a consistent goal scorer for the Boxers. Her ability to find space in the attacking third and finish chances has made her a constant threat to opposing defenses.

“Crafty, shifty, has her own flair on the field. Questionable brainrot but could take on all eleven opponents and make it out alive.” 

Chanyn Santos, Defender
Chanyn has been a rock-solid defender, known for her composure on the ball and strong defensive positioning. Her contributions have been vital in maintaining the team’s defensive solidity.

Rylie Goo, Defender
Rylie has been a creative force in the back line, known for her dribbling skills and vision. Her ability to unlock defenses and create scoring opportunities has been a highlight of her career, even as a defender in the back line.

“Best travel trip roommate. A staple on the field, the game is complete haywire without her.”

Makalia Takahashi, Defender
Her dedication to improving and supporting her teammates has been commendable throughout her time with the team. 

“Also known as Big Mak, she’s an absolute brick wall on the field.”
