Zesti Food Carts offers a world of choices

Any food-related indecision can be resolved with Zesti Food Carts. Zesti Food Carts launched in late October 2020 on 2131 Yew Street, about a 5-minute drive from Pacific University’s campus, and now occupies a lot with 20 different food carts.

When I arrived, my nose was filled with numerous scents of delicious meals. The gravel crunching under my feet gave the establishment that Pacific Northwest vibe. And, customers enjoyed the live music of acoustic guitars and lounging by the bar underneath a heated tent.

Kourosh Pournaderi, who owns and operates Zesti Food Carts, envisioned Zesti Food Carts doing exceptionally well in Forest Grove. He said Forest Grove was a treasure that had yet to be discovered but knew the small-knit community would come together to support these food carts all year around.

Pournaderi said the food cart pod opened at a good time last year because; in the thick of COVID-19, many people did not want to go into restaurants, so the food carts were booming with the outdoor open space.

Chicken curry and Tandoori Garlic Naan are two iconic dishes from the classic Indian restaurant Heart of India. Special spices are used to make the chicken curry, which may be made vegetarian by adding tofu. Any dish can be combined with the Tandoori Garlic Naan, and the fluffy, flavorful bread is frequently ordered by itself.

Go to Amore if you want to carbohydrate overload. The pasta at the Italian food truck is freshly made. Inside the food truck, the freshly made pasta can be seen being prepared by the owners. Bucatini con pancetta, a dish cooked with bucatini pasta, sundried tomatoes, a variety of herbs, and a handmade sauce, is quite popular. Crispy garlic bread arrives with every pasta meal.

Our sports writer Zander Breault recommends the Philly Cheese house as one of the more intriguing carts at the location. Classic Philly cheesesteak with the option of topping with some good ole cheese wiz. But their menu though is not limited to just these sandwiches. Burgers, hot dogs, even lamb! Friendly staff and a buzzing Instagram account. And, our Production Manager Chandler Fleming points us towards Jerrick’s, a down-to-earth and welcoming Hawaiian Cuisine and Texas Style BBQ food cart.

For the underage audience, the indoor bar offers non-alcoholic beverages and beer and cider on tap. Space heaters warm the bar, which is located in the middle of the food carts. On weekends, there is frequently live music.

Zesti Food Carts lot is open seven days a week, 8 am – 8:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and 9 am – 8:30 pm on weekends, although times and days vary from cart to cart. — Lily Rasmussen
