Jobs’s portrait a new addition to library

Last month, a new portrait of Steve Jobs was put on display in the library. The piece was created by Assistant Professor of Art Junko Iijima and this year’s Basic Drawing Class to promote the art department in a space that students pass by on a day-to-day basis.

The students of each Basic Drawing Class pick a person to be drawn; the most recent before Jobs was KISS and before that, the original Boxer. With buzz around campus on the Jobs portrait, the art department has clearly done their job.

Iijima said the library has good traffic and its location is a good way to make noise about the art department in general, as well as the students who helped create the portraits in the Basic Drawing classes.

Currently, the art department has a Faculty Select Student Show being held in the Kathrin Cawein Gallery of Art in Scott Hall until the Dec. 16 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
