Pacific swim wraps up the season in style
As the 2025-26 swim season came to a close, there was plenty to celebrate. From personal records to overall season successes, to celebrating the seniors’ last meet, the Boxers had a lot of talent this season, in and out of the pool.
The conference team this year featured senior Kenzie Brennan, senior Jazmyn Caprone-Graves, senior Dahlia Leighton, sophomore Molly Sawyer, sophomore Rachel Kaufman, sophomore Abby Fisher, freshman Clark Marshall, and freshman Jose Salas-Frias, freshman Cadee Yamashita, freshman McKenna Clancy, and freshman Chago Bradbury.
The women’s team made the biggest splash as they scored 103 points with three swimmers as finalists in their events: Capron-Graves, Louie, and Sawyer.
Capron-Graves has swam all four years at Pacific University and ended her career in style. She was a finalist in the 100 Freestyle, finishing 16th with a time of 56.66 seconds. Capron-Groves, who also goes by “Jaz,” is majoring in Biology, and is a huge Missy Franklin fan.
Louie also placed 16th in her finals race, swimming the 400 IM in 6:22.95. She also swam the 100-yard breast stroke in a time of 1:29.95.
It was Sawyer however that led the crew, finishing 11th in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:28.77, and 12th in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.18.
Leighton was another notable senior swimming at conference. The Illinois native specialized in freestyle and she competed in the 1650 yard freestyle (20:49.36).
Brennan is another freestyle senior whose career came to a close. Brennan is a Forest Grove native, spending all four of her years right in her hometown. She competed in the 100-yard breaststroke clocking a time of 1:16.30.
Kaufman was another sophomore who was a part of the conference team, swimming a 7:06.78 in the 500 yard freestyle. She also competed in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:31.61), and the 1650 yard freestyle (24:38.23). Kaufman is studying Theatre, and is a Portland native.
Sophomore Abby Fisher was also a part of the conference team, ending her season with a 2:33.80 in the 200-yard freestyle, a 2:46.19 in the 200-yard breaststroke, and a 1:15.37 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
McKenna Clancy is one of two freshmen on the women’s swim team this year, as she ended her season with a 7:30.44 in the 500-yard freestyle, a 1:21.28 in the 100-yard freestyle, and a 1:43.81 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Cadee Yamashita is the other freshman, as she also competed in the 500-yard freestyle (6:13.47), and the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.05).
On the Men’s side, while it is a small team with just six swimmers, there are still bright personalities that make the team seem that much bigger. Freshman Chago Bradbury is one of the few dual-sport athletes here in Pacific, as he is also a star in Cross Country and Track. Bradbury is described by his peers as a “hybrid athlete.” Bradbury was a part of the Conference team this season, swimming a personal best in the 200 IM (2:18.57), 100 Backstroke, and 100 Fly.
Freshman Jose Salas-Farias also competed at Conference, swimming in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 28.14 seconds, and the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:20.05. He also competed in the 200-yard freestyle. You might recognize his last name if you’re a Boxer sports fan, that is because Jose is the son of Romelio Salas, a legendary Boxer wrestler who competed in the 1984 and 1992 Olympic games representing Colombia.
Freshman Clark Marshall also competed with his good friend Jose in the 50 yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 25.07. He also competed in the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.67) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.95).
