Boxers focused on finishing season on a high note

With the 2026 women’s lacrosse season coming close to the end, the Boxers are carrying momentum into their final two games and have an opportunity to end the year on a high note.
Pacific now sits at 8-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play following a strong weekend, winning two games on the road against Pacific Lutheran University and Puget Sound. Those victories have not only boosted the team’s record but also reflected the growth and confidence the Boxers have developed late in the season.
Early in the season, the Boxers showed just how much potential they had with some really strong performances. One of the biggest moments came in their 10–8 win over Linfield, which was especially meaningful as it marked their first win over the Wildcats since 2017. They also picked up a 17–0 victory over Pacific Lutheran and a solid 12–4 win against Puget Sound, showing that they can compete. Those early results also helped set the tone for the season and gave a glimpse of what this team is capable of at its best.
The numbers reflect a team that has been competitive all year long. Pacific has outshot opponents 311 to 287 this season, averaging over 22 shots per game, and has kept scoring margins close, with just a five-goal difference overall (139–134). Those stats highlight a team that consistently puts pressure on opponents and creates opportunities.
Offensively, the Boxers have thrived with a balanced and dynamic attack. Sophomore Ellena Willingham leads the way with 37 goals and 42 total points, anchoring the offense as a reliable scoring presence. There are also several other players who have chipped in and played key roles, such as junior India Cartwright with 31 points, senior Sarah Quade with 27, junior Cameron Cabuco with 26, freshman Erin Casey with 25, and junior Jasmyn Zimmerman with 25 points as well. This depth has made Pacific difficult to defend, with multiple players stepping up throughout the season.
The team has also shown steady improvement in efficiency, shooting .431 on the year and continuing to generate quality looks. Their ability to create scoring chances, combined with growing confidence, has been a positive sign as the season winds down.
Defensively, the team has been active and resilient. The Boxers have recorded 273 ground balls and 131 caused turnovers, consistently applying pressure and creating extra possessions. Erin Casey has been a standout across the field, leading the team with 60 ground balls while contributing 21 goals. Sarah Quade has also made a major impact, tallying 25 caused turnovers and a team-high 42 draw controls, helping drive both defensive stops and offensive opportunities.
While possession battles and turnovers have sometimes presented challenges, the team’s effort and ability to respond have been clear strengths. The Boxers have continued to compete in every game and have shown growth as the season has progressed.
The Boxers will wrap up their season with two conference matchups this week, traveling to Willamette on April 22 before returning home for their final game against Lewis & Clark on April 25. The home game will also be the team’s Senior Day, giving Pacific a chance to celebrate its seniors while closing out the season in front of a home crowd.
