Athletes are known to have pregame rituals that help them prepare for competition. Many athletes struggle with their mental toughness, and getting into the correct headspace can determine how the match goes. The Pacific Boxer swimming team has its rituals to do just that.

The Pacific University Men’s and Women’s cross country teams both ran at the NW Conference Championships last Saturday, October 30th in Mcminnville. The women’s team placed second overall and the men’s team finished fourth overall, which is the highest combined team finish at the NW Conference Championships in school history.
Bailee Cofer and Ryan Simms have been able to be found on the Pacific University track all year round for the past five years coaching their athletes how to throw/jump farther and run faster. The only thing different about both coaches this year is a change in their titles.
This season will look a little different for the Pacific Boxer Women’s Basketball team with a high-speed offense and an undersized defense. In the past seasons, the Boxers had no problem getting rebounds and defending inside the perimeter with their forwards and centers.
Many student-athletes seek to develop and improve upon their physical strengths, so the mental side of the sports is often not prioritized. As athletes encounter situations that test their mental strength, many often struggle to find ways to deal with the mental side of their sports. Pacific University offers resources for student-athletes who seek advice about aiding any struggles.
The leaves have fallen and the rain is upon the community in Forest Grove as the days grow shorter and daylight becomes scarce. Winter is fast approaching which means fall sports at Pacific are beginning to wrap up, as some Boxers strap on the black and red for the very last time.
