Forest Grove is known for many wonderful qualities, but the fast food selection is not one. Yet, the town is steadily growing in the right direction. Forest Grove is adding new fast food, bakeries, and dinner spots to its menu less than 5 minutes from campus.

MOD:  A new pizza joint in town, MOD is open late enough for students to get dinner after class or late-night practices. The restaurant is open until 10 pm on weekdays and 11 pm on the weekends. MOD will give Mcdonald’s and Taco Bell a run for their money with the hungry college students. The new MOD is located on Pacific Ave and is known for its in-and-out service, or you can dine in with a group of friends. Customers can make their custom-made pizza with an endless amount of no extra-charged toppings. The personal pizza is thrown into the brick oven and is ready to eat in minutes. The pizza is on a thin crust, gluten-free option crust, and the customer has seven different sauce selections ranging from pesto, white sauce, bbq sauce, or the old fashion red sauce.

Slow Rise Bakehouse: Also, only within walking distance from campus is Slow Rise Bakehouse. The local bakery makes you think about your grandma’s kitchen, and the Forest Grove community seems to flock to the cozy bakery. The shop opened in December, located on 21st ave, and offers homemade pastries, bread, and pies. The shop also has a coffee bar that sells a range of different coffees that students can purchase on their walk to campus. The convenient new location has spacious seating for students to study or meet up with friends. The home town bakeries customers’ favorite pastry is the Morning Bun, a twisted sugary cinnamon bun. The beloved Olive Rosemary bread can be matched with a crispy croissant to take home to the family. The shop is open Wednesday through Thursday and is up before the sun opening at 7 am on weekdays and 8 am on weekends.

Lindo Michoacan: Serving fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine, Lindo Michoacan arrived on Main Street in 2022 and is expected to remain a fan favorite in 2023. When you walk in, the vibrant colors immediately complement the brick walls. The restaurant is expansive enough for big groups, and the filled plates are guaranteed not to leave you hungry. Lindo Michoacan is an excellent choice for dinner, whether you want to order from the extensive food menu or stop by for a margarita. The restaurant is open from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm Monday-Saturday and has become a popular stop for students looking for a breakfast burrito or a leisurely dinner. — Emily Rutkowski
