Nothing corny about the happenings at Corn Roast
A somewhat corny tradition graces the streets of Forest Grove right as the leaves start to change and the wind starts to chill. This is, of course, the annual Forest Grove Corn Roast and Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival! With around 62 local vendors, this event is a staple of autumn in Forest Grove and is conveniently located right off of Pacific University’s campus. Vendors display handcrafted local goods for visitors, while local firefighters roast hundreds of ears of corn on the cob. The day is also accompanied by games, crafts, children’s events, and musical performances, all free of charge.
Altogether, the event is a fan favorite and brought out hundreds of “Grovers” to enjoy some corn. For an overcast Saturday, vibes were high, and the street was full of life, and of course, corn.
Children work diligently on their chalk art designs as the parents lie back to enjoy local foods and music.
Firefighters roast corn over a giant grill, sent directly to hungry buyers for just $3 a cob.
Local artists sell their work, including everything from paintings, sculptures, woodwork, and glass-blown art.
Kids and adults alike work hard and tirelessly to complete their chalk art pieces, still scattered across Main Street.
When visiting, snapping a picture with the official Corn Roast Mascot, Colonel Cornelius, is a must!
