Both golf teams enter the new season hoping to turn last year’s experience into strides for growth and success.
As the 2026-27 season gets underway, Pacific University’s men’s and women’s golf teams step into the new year looking to build on progress created throughout last season. The Boxers will have opportunities throughout the fall and spring to test themselves against the very competitive Northwest Conference.
The women’s team enters the season with plenty of experience to revolve around. Pacific finished fourth at the 2026 Northwest Conference Championships after scoring a 671 over the final championship tournament at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club. The Boxers also finished fourth in the conference’s overall standings with 1,989 strokes across the Fall Classic, Spring Classic and NWC Championship.
One of Pacific’s standout performers last season was now-senior Bead Boonta who consistently gave the Boxers a strong individual performance. At the NWC Spring Classic, Boonta finished third overall with a two-round score of 152. She then followed that performance up by placing fourth at the NWC Championship with a 155, finishing just two strokes behind the individual champion.
Pacific’s women also showed consistency throughout last fall. The Boxers opened the 2025-26 season with a second-place finish at the Orange & Black Invitational before placing second again at the Northwest Conference Fall Classic. Pacific eventually finished fourth at the Confluence Classic, giving the team several strong results heading into the spring portion of the season last year. This should give the Boxers confidence to start off the new year hot just like they were able to do a year ago.
The men’s team will also look to take another step forward. Pacific finished eighth at last year’s Northwest Conference Championships with a team score of 602. The Boxers’ 1,836-stroke total placed them eighth in the conference standings as well.
There were several encouraging individual performances throughout the season. Junior Ryan Murray and freshman Ray Blas both shot 152 at the NWC Spring Classic to lead Pacific, tying for 22nd individually. The two golfers will be among the names to pay attention to as the Boxers look to improve their position within the competitive conference.
The 2026-27 season will also give both Pacific teams another opportunity to compete on some of the Northwest’s more challenging courses. Last season’s schedules included stops at Tualatin Country Club, Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club, Oswego Lake Country Club, Veterans Memorial Golf Course and Oakbrook Golf Club.
For Pacific, the upcoming season will be about more than individual scores. The Boxers will be looking to develop a sense of consistency from golfer to golfer, turn strong individual rounds into team performances and continue climbing to the top of the Northwest Conference standings.
With the fall portion of the season providing the first opportunity to establish momentum, both Pacific teams will have plenty of time to develop before the conference championship portion of the schedule. For a program coming off a fourth-place finish on the women’s side and an eighth-place finish on the men’s side, the new season provides another opportunity to compete, improve and present themselves within the conference with their play.
