Pacific’s art club is back after a brief hiatus
After a brief hiatus Pacific Universities art club is back; under new management, the club has finally been able to get back on its feet. While the meetings won’t be starting until November, students are buzzing with anticipation.
“We’ve talked about wanting to make meetings where, like, you’ve had a long day of classes, you’re exhausted and you get to come hang out with some friends in the evening and do art,” says art club treasurer Silke Dobberfuhl. “I love this saying where I want to create more than I can consume,” Dobberfuhl notes in regards to art clubs overarching goals. “Like, don’t consume social media, don’t consume outside… I feel like this is a great way to come back to physical art.”
“Anyone can do art, Anyone can create. They don’t have to be perfect at it,” Dobberfuhl explains. More than being a club for art majors to hone their skills, it’s simply a laid-back space to explore creativity. “Maybe you do have some really good skills, and this is the way to unlock them.”
Dobberfuhl projects that, “We probably want to finish just finalizing the paperwork so our goal is to probably have it done by the end of October.” Though it is most likely that the art club will be in full swing around the end of fall to early spring semester. “We haven’t made elections yet, but… we want to have elections in the spring, we want to start getting members.”
