The Diversity Café in down town Forest Grove, which underwent renovations over the summer, is excited the the school year at Pacific University has started again. The improvements the café made are an effort to expand and to draw more students to eat at the family-owned comfort food restaurant.
The café expanded its entire facility and now has more than 150 seats. The old dining room has been converted into their catering area and the new dining room includes new tables, wood floors, comfortable seats, a stage for live music, and for those 21 and older a bar with pool tables and darts.
Other improvements include new menu items created by head chef, Doug Reid. Signature family recipes such as the steak mac and cheese have remained.
Many of Diversity’s improvements are designed to attract students, as it tries to get more involved in the Forest Grove community. For students, the café will be starting a “Starving Student Discount” which will get students 15% off homemade food when they tire of eating in the Grove. It will also have live music every Friday and Saturday night along with karaoke. On Oct. 27 will have a Prince Tribute band. They also plan to host viewing parties for large sporting events.
For Pacific students 21 and over, Diversity will start hosting a pool and darts league in the bar.
