Campus safety: Incident reports (Sept. 29 edition)

9/05/2011 2:55 a.m. Drugs/Alcohol
Resident Assistant reported an odor of marijuana in a residence hall. Officer traced marijuana smell to an individual room. Student admitted to smoking marijuana in room. Student also admitted to possessing alcohol while under age. Paraphernalia was confiscated and destroyed as was the alcohol. Student referred to Conduct Review Committee.

9/4-5/2011 2:45 a.m. Property Damage
Resident Assistant reported water leak coming from water fountain at 3rd floor hallway of Clark Hall. RA attempted to reattach pipe to unit and caused water fountain unit to come slightly unattached from wall. A work order was submitted to facilities for removal or repairs.

9/5/11 4:36 a.m. Theft II
Campus Public Safety was notified of a bicycle theft at Burlingham Hall. Upon reviewing the cameras the specific day and time was identified. Suspect not identified. Several stills and a video were saved for later possible identification.

9/7/11 10:14 a.m. Criminal Trespass
Campus Public Safety was notified of a possible altercation between non-students outside of Berglund Hall. The individuals involved were identified and one trespass warning was given by FG Police to the suspect who had fled the area.

09/07/11 4:48 p.m. Harassment FG
Female student advised CPS that she was concerned about the recent behavior of her ex-boyfriend, who is also a student. Contact was made with the male student. The on call Senior Administrator was notified of the situation and will follow up with the students involved.

09/09/2011 11:51 p.m. Alcohol
Campus Public Safety Officer was called to a residence hall by an RA regarding an intoxicated student. Upon arrival at the residence hall, CPS Officer found a student that was vomiting into a trash can and appeared extremely intoxicated. The student was not able to answer questions in an appropriate manner and did not appear to be able to care for them self if left unattended.The CPS officer determined that the student’s level of intoxication was possibly life threatening and advised the RA to call for medical assistance. The student was transported by ambulance for treatment for alcohol overdose / poisoning. Alcohol and rapid consumption paraphernalia that were found in the residence hall room were documented and seized by CPS.

9/11/2011 9:50 p.m. Criminal Trespass
Campus Public Safety Officers found suspicious vehicle in L-lot and made contact with the occupants (non-students) who were found to be smoking marijuana. Suspects surrendered marijuana and pipes to the officers. FG Police were called and suspects were cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Suspects were issued Trespass notices from university property.

9/6/2011 2:00 p.m. Theft II Portland Eye Clinic
Campus Public Safety received a report from Portland EyeClinic regarding a theft of three sets of sunglasses. This has been reported to Portland Police. No suspects identified.

09/13/11 4:15 p.m. Medical
Female student fell down three steps on the West Stairwell of Strain. Complaining about some tenderness in her right knee. Student was given ice and an ace bandage. She declined further medical attention.

09/13/11 10:10 p.m. Medical  FG
Student reported a foot injury and requested first-aid. Student reported she fell on stairs suffering a large laceration. First-Aid provided and student was taken to urgent care center by a friend at her request.

9/15/2011 1:28 a.m. Suspicious
CPS Officers heard sound of possible shots or fireworks in area of Clark Hall. FG PD also responded. Located remains of a plastic bottle in the sand volleyball pit. Bottle had obviously ruptured and had chemical residue inside. No damage. No suspects identified.

9/15/2011  8:33 p.m. to 11:15 a.m. Criminal Mischief III FG
Athletics staff found graffiti on the south exterior door of the south dugout. Photos taken and graffiti removed. No suspects identified.

9/19/11 2:33 p.m. Medical  FG
Campus Public Safety was notified of a student having a medical issue. Emergency Medical was contacted and student was treated and transported to a local hospital.

9/20/11 7:30 a.m. (9/19/11) Property Damage Hillsboro
Campus Public Safety was notified of some damage in the men’s restroom on the 1st floor.

9/20/11 1:56 p.m. Theft II Beaverton Optometry Clinic
Campus Public Safety was notified by staff of the Beaverton optometry clinic that three sunglasses were stolen. Video of the theft was captured by clinic staff. Suspects were not identified. Clinic advised to call the local police department.

9/20/2011 10:00 p.m. to 10:56 p.m.  Class A Fire
Student reported a fire outside of the south entry at Gilbert Hall. A cigarette receptacle (ashtray) was found burning. Fire was extinguished by CPS with a portable extinguisher. Damage limited to the receptacle. Appears accidental, as there is an accumulation of trash in the tray as well as multiple butts. Facilities notified for clean-up.

09/21/2011 11:30 a.m. Medical
University staff member found a student in north restroom of the University Center that was not feeling well. CPS was called and student refused EMS. Student was referred to the Health Center.

09/21/11 7:15 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. Burglary I FG
Unknown female suspect was noticed by several students walking in the hallway of Clark Hall. A backpack was discovered missing from an unsecured dorm room within minutes of her passing through. FGPD was notified and assisted in a search for the suspect. Suspect was not located. A Burglary report was filed by the victim with FGPD and CPS.

9/19/2011 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Theft II Hillsboro
Victim reported his iPod touch stolen on 9/19/2011 from Clinic nurses desk. No known suspects at this time.

09/23/2011 11:47 p.m. Alcohol FG
Campus Public Safety Officers were called to a residence hall regarding a student with possible alcohol poisoning. Officers arrived and found a female student nearly unconscious and vomiting. Witness stated the student had consumed several shots / drinks off campus. Student was not able to speak to officers and became unconscious prior to arrival of emergency medical personnel. Medical aid provided by officers and then EMS on their arrival. Student was later transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment. Police issued the student a citation for minor in possession of alcohol. Police also arrested a university student who provided alcohol off campus to the hospitalized student.

The Pacific Index will be publishing all incident reports that are received from Campus Public Safety in order to inform the Pacific community.

According to the Cleary Act of 1990, all institutions receiving financial aid must keep a public log of crime on campus.
