Campus safety: Incident reports 12/15-1/29

12/15/2011 Theft II 

Campus Public Safety took report of stolen textbooks from a student’s room. There is no suspect at this time.

 

12/19/2011 Theft III 

Faculty member reported her purse stolen while off-campus, which included her university key ring with several different keys from Hillsboro campus.  No suspects identified. Facilities notified to change / replace key cores.

 

01/05/2012 Property Damage 

Motor-pool reported damage to university van (VF-11) which was noted on its return from a lengthy winter semester trip. None of the drivers reported the damage nor could recall how it had occurred.  Minor repairs completed in-house.

 

01/21/2012 11:30 p.m. Drugs, Criminal 

Campus Public Safety officers made contact with two non-student males in a vehicle near the athletic center. Officers noticed what appeared to be illegal drugs in the driver’s hands. Police were called and found the driver to be in possession of heroin. Suspect was issued a trespass warning from Pacific University property and arrested by police. The passenger was released without incident.

 

01/23/2012 4-5 p.m. Unlawful Entry

Student reported that someone had cut open the plastic window cover on his Jeep while it was parked in lot “K.”  Items inside had been gone through but nothing appeared to be missing. No suspects identified.

01/24/2012 Tampering with Fire

Residence Assistant discovered a smoke detector that had been tampered with. Detector was restored and resident students referred to conduct adviser.

 

01/24/2012 5:15 a.m. Tampering with Fire 

Campus Public Safety responded to reports of the fire alarm sounding at a residential hall. Upon further investigation CPS found the alarm to be coming from a pull station, the alarm was found to be false. A resident assistant made contact with CPS at the scene and identified a student fleeing the scene when the alarm sounded. Later that day CPS contacted one of the students identified at the scene. The student admitted to pulling the alarm and to be under the influence of alcohol at the time. Student was referred to Conduct Review Committee.

 

01/25/2012 Midnight to 8:30 a.m. Property Damage

Faculty member reported a broken window on the greenhouse near McCready Hall.  Unknown when or how it occurred.  No suspects identified.

 

01/24/2012 10 a.m. Theft III Portland EyeClinic

Pacific Eye Trends reported theft of eyeglass frames from their downtown Portland location.  Suspect identified but not named.  Referred to Portland police.

 

01/29/2012 9 p.m. Drugs

Campus Public Safety officers responded to a resident hall for reports of a marijuana odor. Officers located the source and made contact with the occupants in the room. A small amount of marijuana, a homemade bong and two small bottles of alcohol were seized as evidence. University property was also found in the room and returned to its proper location.

 

The Pacific Index will be publishing all incident reports that are received from Campus Public Safety in order to inform the Pacific community. 

According to the Cleary Act of 1990, all institutions receiving financial aid must keep a public log of crime on campus.
