On Sept. 13, Pacific reported 552 freshmen and transfer students making this year one of the largest incoming student groups. This is a step in the right direction for the university’s Vision 2020 plan. This plan foresees 2,000 undergraduate and 2,000 graduate students populating Pacific campuses by 2020.
Vice president of management and student affairs, Mark Ankeny is excited for the large group of new students because of what these students represent.
“As Pacific becomes more diverse, it creates an environment inviting to people of all ethnicities” said Ankeny.
When discussing how incoming and prospective students perceive Pacific, Ankeny said this is a university where students’ goals will be encouraged.
After the Board of Trustees reaches their Vision 2020 goal, Ankeny said the plan is to maintain around 2,000 on the Forest Grove campus. As the university gets closer to their goal, he also stated changes on campus will have to be made, such as a new residence hall and updated facilities.
Ankeny also talked of the importance of maintaining a positive academic and social lifestyle on campus.
“Students are investing in their future at Pacific and we value their input,” said Ankeny.
Ankeny encourages students to contact him about their experiences at Pacific.
The current enrollment at Pacific is 1,720 undergraduates, 1,713 graduates, and 30 English Language Institute students.
