Do criminals follow laws?
The answer is no. Tightening gun control would only effect law abiding citizens.
The national average for response time of police is 10 minutes.
The average duration of an altercation with a criminal is 90 seconds.
This allows criminals to do their bidding as they please.
One of my favorite quotes regarding this issue is, “You may not like guns. That is your right. You may not believe in God. That is your choice. But if someone breaks
into your home, the first two things you are going to do are, one, call someone with a gun, and two, pray they get there in time.”-Anonymous.
So why take the guns away from the good guys?
Why do you have fire extinguishers?
Because it is better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it.
In general, people who own guns are not waiting for someone to break in or try to rob them just so they can use their gun, it is like the situation with the fire extinguisher.
No one necessarily wants to be in a situation requiring the use of either item, but if the time came, the decision would be obvious.
