After 13 years of an era in Pacific University men’s soccer, Eric Mild will step in and take control as the eighth head coach of the program. Announced on Feb. 13, Mild will bring his experience both as a coach and former player to Boxer Nation.

For the last five years, Mild has spent time as the top assistant coach at the NCAA Division I program UC Davis. He also spent time at UC Davis from 1997 to 2001 as an assistant coach.

In the time between Mild’s two tenures at UC Davis, he served as the head coach of Division II Cal State Stanislaus for seven seasons.

As a player, Mild began his collegiate career at Santa Rosa Junior College where he earned all-conference honors. He then finished his career at Division II Humboldt State where he earned all-conference and All-West Regional honors.

Mild credited the focus on acedemics as something that drew him to Pacific.

“I’m looking forward to promoting not only the athletic side but alsothe academic side and also mentoring young men to be better people,” said Mild.

Mild arrived to Pacific’s campus March 16 to begin the team’s offseason training program.

He is also on the hunt for a new house.

Coming from California  and having spent his entire coaching and playing career there, Mild will also have to move his family out to the Pacific Northwest. He has a wife and two children.

“I’m excited about the opportunity and looking forward to getting rolling with our practices,” said Mild. “Making sure that I’m putting into place the structure and foundation and fundamentals that I think are important to our success.”

The Boxers will have some continuity through the transition process as former player and now assistant coach Mike Iacolucci will remain on the coaching staff.

A 2010 graduate of Pacific University, Iacolucci helped lead the Boxers to a Northwest Conference Championship during his senior season. He also earned all-conference honors, west regional honors and academic honors as a student-athlete.

In 2013, Iacolucci was brought on as an assistant coach for the Pacific men’s soccer team.

Mild replaces former Pacific men’s soccer head coach Jim Brazeau, who announced his resignation in November 2013.
