Seniors count down days to commencement

Commencement is quickly approaching and many seniors are wondering what else needs to be checked off of their graduation checklist. Director of University Events Paula Thatcher and Events Coordinator Curtis Ray have all of the answers that seniors need to know.

There is a Commencement committee comprised of about 20 staff members who are responsible for organizing and advertising Countdown to Graduation and Commencement. The Student Life Office holds the Baccalaureate and the Dean’s office sponsors the senior awards.

Countdown to Graduation was held on Feb. 7 in the Pulse. There were seven different booths seniors could visit: Registrar, Alumni Office, Career Development Center, Center for Civic Engagement, Pacific Graduate Admissions and the bookstore, to purchase caps, gowns and class rings. Everything seniors needed was in one location, so it was easy to make sure everything is in order.

Seniors need to register for graduation so that the Registrar’s Office knows that the student is ready to leave the university. They have to first review the student’s academic evaluation. They will also need to buy their cap and gown from the bookstore beginning on April 25.

Graduation will be held on the football field at Lincoln Park Stadium on May 19, beginning at 9:30 a.m. If students or family members have any questions, they can visit the Commencement website at pacificu.edu/commencement.
