Pacific University’s Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) sorority will be hosting its first bingo night fundraiser in the University Center at 5 p.m. on April 27. This event is held to support AKD’s chosen philanthropy, the Dougy Center.

The Dougy Center is a non-profit organization that provides a safe place for children, teens, young adults and families who are grieving over a death. All students, faculty, alumni and Pacific community members are invited to the bingo night. There will be around nine different games during the event and it is only $1 per card per game.

Students will then be able choose from a selection of prizes that were donated from Pacific’s campus. All proceeds will go toward the Dougy Center. The AKD sorority is hoping to raise at least $100 from their bingo night.

“We would really appreciate support in reaching our fundraising goal for this wonderful organization,” Alpha Kappa Delta sorority member, Shania Hall said.

These donations will fund the resources needed at the Dougy Center to help support grieving individuals and families. AKD chose to hold fundraisers for the Dougy Center for the past three years. All of the AKD’s fundraisers this year were also for the Dougy Center.

“This is Alpha Kappa Delta’s last fundraiser for the Dougy Center this year,” Hall said.

AKD were able to form a close relationship with the Dougy Center over many years of helping the center. The people at the Dougy Center seemed to really appreciate the yearly donations AKD makes to them.
