Sarah Phillips named dean of the College of Arts and Sciences

On Oct. 24 Sarah Phillips was named dean of the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) after serving as interim dean for the past 16 months. With the announcement, Phillips also agreed to continue the post for at least the next five years.

Phillips has remained a member of Pacific’s faculty for the past 23 years starting as a professor of sociology in 1995. She also holds additional research and teaching experience in disciplines like anthropology, gender and sexuality studies, public health and social work.

Before being appointed as interim dean, Phillips served the university as associate dean for the university’s College of Business after a term as Arts & Sciences associate dean and School of Social Sciences director.
