Not everyone gets to see a group of singers grow into a strong choral group. Senior Ben España, however, has had the privilege to see such a thing.
España, a music education major, has directed Pacific University’s premiere male vocal ensemble, Splendid Audacity, for the last three years. According to España, the experience has been very rewarding.
“As director, I have had the privilege of experiencing the overwhelming sense of pride in watching a group mature and achieve their full potential,” España said. “And I will never be able to express in words the satisfaction, gratitude, and humility that I will take away from the experience.”
Splendid Audacity started eight years ago. In the three years that España has directed the group, he said it has grown a lot.
For his senior project this year, he prepared a full-length concert. Preparing the concert may have been challenging at times, but España said he found the experience to be extremely satisfying.
A concert to conclude España’s senior project, titled “Splendid Audacity: Portrait of American Music,” will be performed on May 10 at 7:30 p.m.
